Cutting the nose to spike the face.........

I had been living in Kuala Lumpur for the past 33 years and seen it grew tremendously, in tandem with my own journey and lots of other young Malaysian's blossoming. Life was fast and all transactions carried a bit more speed and broader spectrum when conducted in KL. People travel, people learn. The city grew, Malaysian society becomes more sophisticated gradually. General public gets better informed and the general consciousness of self and society was further raised with the advent of Internet.

In all these time, we were and still is, a secular multi ethnic society ran by communal political parties adhering to a bias sets of rules favouring the majority group over all others. We grew, not spectacular, as other tigers of Asia, but at a rather slow, lumbering gait. By his own admission Dr. M recently said in a NST featured interview; Malaysia under his leadership was 30-40% behind our neighbours in economic development. We all know it’s a lot more then he will ever admit. But we grew. We did not have real turmoil that upset the political or social fabric of Malaysian society. The world wide financial surges, ebbs and crisis were adequately handled. We lived in peace generally except the occasion of May13; created by Najib's father for a back door coup de grace and kill off Tunku Abdul Rahman's leadership. We survived, we were made to lived under more stringent condition with the introduction of NEP. MCA and MIC did songs and dances and got away promising their fellow kinship year after year that tomorrow will be better while their family and cronies gleefully lapped up all the grease and fat seeping out of crooked government deals.

The people starts to talk, more and more. We got worked up, we got angry. We want change! Year after years, the conscientious but poorly organised oppositions who had suffered the social and financial disadvantage and indignity of being treated as lesser citizen in Malaysia tries to defeat the vested powers of the ruling parties. The tricky Mahathir managed to elude all pursuer but finally released the helm to Dollah. This is the time! A strange and incompatible alliance was created to make the most impact. We supported and give BN a big black eye in 2008. But black eye do not kill.

What did died on that occasion was the integrity of building a fair, just and harmonious secular society. For the sake of political expediency, DAP for years the champion of the common folks regardless of race, agreed to jump in bed with a powerfully partner who proclaims mandate from Allah to turn Malaysia into a syaria compliance society. An, god forbids, Islamic state! Are we to endure all those years of 2nd class citizenry for the ultimate price of a restrictive society where we would be the disadvantaged again! Not over my dead body!

What is happening? We as a people had instead of moving on from self centred communal politics to higher ideal progressive society construction, had in fact regressed to a spot in the bottom of society development by entrusting and appointing a xenophobic religious group lead by frail old man who believe he know better than me what's good for me or not, as our representative to knock off the corrupted BN! What's wrong with us Malaysians? What's our ideals? What is DAP selling? Are you aware that once PAS is given the national leadership, the hudud option will never go away. Any open conflict between PAS and DAP or PKR while at the helm of Malaysia will be view as Others against Islam for the international muslim brotherhood in the tussle for Malaysia. Malaysian Shiite terrorist trained in Pakistan; currently active in Indo and Phil will see this as the opportunity to gain extra foothold in the Sunni dominated Malay society by inserting themselves as the protector.

The resulting events is just too painful to contemplate. Please, Please, Please give your vote to anyone except PAS. Corrupt old goats I can handle. Old goats with mandate direct from god is what I, we need to avoid!
