Press statement of Group of Concerned Citizens on the General Election

We are a group of Malaysians from diverse ethnicities, religions and backgrounds including military, academic, business, professional and the not-for-profit sector. We have been drawn together by our love for our country and our concern that this general election may see further setbacks in our aspiration for a better society.
Malaysians need a better government and good governance, especially in these tumultuous times of heightened racial discord and religious hatred and extremism.

If we succeed, we can be a modest example for the rest of the world in the way we tackle our racial and religious differences and in our resolve and actions to ensure social justice and the fair distribution of the wealth of our land.

Past governments and politicians have too often failed us by abusing the public treasury for private gain, by concentrating wealth and power in the hands of a few, and by debasing our democratic rights. For some years now, we have been one of the top countries in the world in terms of illicit outflows of money. According to Global Financial Integrity, the total 10-year estimate of financial outflow for Malaysia was RM871.4 billion for 2000-2010. No country in the world can afford such a high level of capital flight.

The coming elections provides us an opportunity to exercise our individual and collective right to decide on who will lead this country in the next five years and manage our finances, economy and society in a fair and just manner. If we choose badly we will have only ourselves to blame.

We wish to share with voters in this election pamphlet, which is being disseminated throughout the country, our concerns as well as our position on the principles and values that can propel our country towards that better society that we seek and which all Malaysians deserve and can be proud of. We believe that most Malaysians share not only these concerns but also our expectations of the high moral and ethical standards from the parties and politicians that will soon come into power.

We hope that this election message – a non-partisan one – will be etched in the minds and memories of those who will shortly take political office as well as of all voters so that the promise of moral and good governance is in the forefront of national priority, not just during the election campaign period and particularly on election day but every day during the next four or five years.

Other citizens and civil society organisations wishing to endorse this or a similar message are free to adopt or adapt it, and disseminate in their own names.

The Malaysian Dream.

Like in US, in Taiwan, they have the real two Party system. Two major politico power blocs override the smaller non-alliance parties and compete to become the ruling Party, rein in the Government.

The people's power will be there like falcons piercing their razor-sharp eyes to keep the performing Party under their scrutiny as a very powerful check and balance mechanism.

It's a failure if the people simply used by any one of the divide bloc as the pawn downs to guard them to conquer the bastion of power, they become the Kingdom, we remain slaves!
Use our coherent powers wisely, we be the real bosses and they be our servants!
"Trust our ownselves more, the politicians less!"

Idolisation or extreme cult of a certain personality will ultimately lead us to awakening of our foolishness to have been used by the polly, charmed by his so-called charisma which is virtually the empty promises for our better well beings!

Vote wisely so that to prove our maturity!

We control our future, not that by the politicians!

Cheers!

Dun ever behave like an Ostrich!

We shall not shun from facing the problem, more so one which is going to affect our descendants for generations! Just like hearing the footsteps of the big foot monster, we should have done enough precaution by getting ready the bludgeon, machete, or even the grandfather's walking stick to be ready for it, never take for granted!

Can you simply trust a crocodile your life when seeing that he's pretending to yawn fall asleep away, and cross the river?!

We are talking about Hadi Awang, not that the venerable Nik Aziz tok guru he'd ruled Kelantan for 2 decades whilst this bigoted Hadi ruled Trengganu only for one short term he was booted out by the voters who'd enough fear and torture in the minds that their limbs would be amputated by the brutal hudud law when they were to be implemented by this unpopular bearded old goat!

He has never stop reminding LKS to give up objection to his brain child - Islamic Nation - and many a times, he would not forget to blah it out to the press that PAS will not compromise with religious issues and that they have only one issue to push forward in the Parliament, if PR really wins, he will definitely lay the agenda (Islamic Nation) in the silver platter for serving to the speaker and the MPs in the Parliament!

And you know, if there is a will, there is a way! By push..push... push hard enough, the baby head would finally jut out from the vagina of the mother!

It's dangerous one is selling the idea that PAS will ultimately give up religious issue and focus on broader perspective of salvaging the faltering national economy! Neither DAP can give up politics after election since politicking is their only expertise to help pull thru their political lives! Haven't you seen them restlessly engaged in political brick batting in the Parliament, in the public domain and never even afford to come out a draft of their own for master plan to develop Penang State after 5 years had past! Talking about national economy, leave it to DSAI lah perhaps, but, he's laden with sexy video clips too, and will be busy defending them in the court...too bad!

The "Ostrich Syndrome" is what we should avoid, is what we should not pass down to our next next generations!

Dun ever cut our nose to spike our face, this is what i can remind... Period.

A reply to - Cutting your nose to spike your face.

Well said, Kaseng!

But it seems too late your clarion call comes in to endeavour saving our buddies from cutting their noses to spike their faces!

Damages have been done, if any, cuz most of the political virgins have fallen into deep bewitchment of the demagogues the like of these bigoted old goats and the foxy father and son in the guise of nation's saviours! Back in the scene is one morally questionable DC/AC hay wired 'abang' who sat with cool admiring the posterior of the duo fighting over the plate of halal or non-halal delicacies which should be best served for the whimsical rakyat!

The irony is, when we demanded a fair and square level playing field and that the goalie should open up his gate for the best shooter to put in goals thru the gate, there are people still believe that Islam is a key to achieve this! Then what about Hadi Awang has not less than a dozen times repeated, come what may, only Muslim can become PM in this nation and no one else!

Read it with more extrapolation, we tend to grasp the real meaning of what he tried to imply, unless you Chinese converts to Islam, you LKS or LGE will forever play your part as the second fiddler tantamount to Kaseng had quoted, the forever second citizenry for Chinese who are non-Muslim!

And this is so-called fair and just by PAS standard?!

Hadi Awang has never failed to give me chance to dart his one-eye like the bull's eye in the dart board play!...His flip-flop fly-by-night change of rhetoric has never failed its bit to amuse me like a clown is performing his feat to crack open all other jokers' mouths in the audience of the Royal Malayan Circus!

Today he will bang the mike and spit at all the journalists to ask them write exactly that he will not give up transforming our secular nation to that of a Shia Islam & the sharia law as decree, but just overnight, by tomorrow, he will have an abrupt change of utterance that - "In Islam preaching, no one is to be forced into a religion, let alone to force someone into taking hudud laws"!

Contradicting?! Yeas, it's more than that, it's hypocritically flip-flop to the highest order!

Why he behaved like a clown mainly is to appease his Muslim followers and supporters that he and PAS will die for Islam no matter how it appears when they are fanned into PutraJaya! In the other hand, when he flips his fork tongue, his intention to appease the gullible Chinese is obviously seen to be clumsy by eagle eyes like yours and mine!

Yet there are imbeciles believe that he would be a tamed friendly goat without knowing that its teeth can bite, its horns can gore when come to loggerhead with him! He is never a suave looking uncle who lives by your neighbour, watch out!.......

Yet there are people believe that DAP which in bed next to PAS will be our bulwark to defend Chinese rights and to bolster up our second fiddle role to equal the protagonist PAS doyen in this fake Darby and Joan charade!

Are these motley trio going to buy us a paradise for tomorrow it's only a dream, a fantasy, or a castle floating in the air! Not even the notable freedom fighter, the Lady Gandhi, Ambiga dared to swallow the bullets and gives us her chest, but merely cried out - "If PR is no good, kick them out as well after 5 years!".....

Still wanna walk the cable?! Up to you, it's yours choice anyway!

Happy voting!

Cheers for a better (or worse) tomorrow?!
Rgds.,
Frankie
-the ever old dud-

Cutting the nose to spike the face.........

I had been living in Kuala Lumpur for the past 33 years and seen it grew tremendously, in tandem with my own journey and lots of other young Malaysian's blossoming. Life was fast and all transactions carried a bit more speed and broader spectrum when conducted in KL. People travel, people learn. The city grew, Malaysian society becomes more sophisticated gradually. General public gets better informed and the general consciousness of self and society was further raised with the advent of Internet.

In all these time, we were and still is, a secular multi ethnic society ran by communal political parties adhering to a bias sets of rules favouring the majority group over all others. We grew, not spectacular, as other tigers of Asia, but at a rather slow, lumbering gait. By his own admission Dr. M recently said in a NST featured interview; Malaysia under his leadership was 30-40% behind our neighbours in economic development. We all know it’s a lot more then he will ever admit. But we grew. We did not have real turmoil that upset the political or social fabric of Malaysian society. The world wide financial surges, ebbs and crisis were adequately handled. We lived in peace generally except the occasion of May13; created by Najib's father for a back door coup de grace and kill off Tunku Abdul Rahman's leadership. We survived, we were made to lived under more stringent condition with the introduction of NEP. MCA and MIC did songs and dances and got away promising their fellow kinship year after year that tomorrow will be better while their family and cronies gleefully lapped up all the grease and fat seeping out of crooked government deals.

The people starts to talk, more and more. We got worked up, we got angry. We want change! Year after years, the conscientious but poorly organised oppositions who had suffered the social and financial disadvantage and indignity of being treated as lesser citizen in Malaysia tries to defeat the vested powers of the ruling parties. The tricky Mahathir managed to elude all pursuer but finally released the helm to Dollah. This is the time! A strange and incompatible alliance was created to make the most impact. We supported and give BN a big black eye in 2008. But black eye do not kill.

What did died on that occasion was the integrity of building a fair, just and harmonious secular society. For the sake of political expediency, DAP for years the champion of the common folks regardless of race, agreed to jump in bed with a powerfully partner who proclaims mandate from Allah to turn Malaysia into a syaria compliance society. An, god forbids, Islamic state! Are we to endure all those years of 2nd class citizenry for the ultimate price of a restrictive society where we would be the disadvantaged again! Not over my dead body!

What is happening? We as a people had instead of moving on from self centred communal politics to higher ideal progressive society construction, had in fact regressed to a spot in the bottom of society development by entrusting and appointing a xenophobic religious group lead by frail old man who believe he know better than me what's good for me or not, as our representative to knock off the corrupted BN! What's wrong with us Malaysians? What's our ideals? What is DAP selling? Are you aware that once PAS is given the national leadership, the hudud option will never go away. Any open conflict between PAS and DAP or PKR while at the helm of Malaysia will be view as Others against Islam for the international muslim brotherhood in the tussle for Malaysia. Malaysian Shiite terrorist trained in Pakistan; currently active in Indo and Phil will see this as the opportunity to gain extra foothold in the Sunni dominated Malay society by inserting themselves as the protector.

The resulting events is just too painful to contemplate. Please, Please, Please give your vote to anyone except PAS. Corrupt old goats I can handle. Old goats with mandate direct from god is what I, we need to avoid!

A paranoia for all....

Hi Kha Sin,
Today's paranoia might be tomorrow's reality.
It was truly a paranoia decades ago that PAS could earn a place to rule until Kelantan fell into their hands they take it as a training ground and to preach Islamic value into the State administration.
It worked out well since Kelantan is a predominantly Malay State and all Malays are born to be Muslims abided by Malaysian law.
Chinese being the minority in the State, have livened in harmony so far with the Malay brethren and as we all know, we are a race quick to adapt to environment as long as it's a place we have ways and means to 'cari makan' and prosper! Being a EastCoastal State, it is far in the hinterland as compared to KL the capital city and therefore lives there are simple and tranquil. Development there slow maintained as kampung style to match the nearby Thai border State, with a little above par.
Life is traditionally mundane the Kelantanese are happy with the status quo so long as they have enough rice on the table, there are mosques for them to do their ritual and prayers etc. basic easements are all they require. I had been there several times and found myself as if in the tunnel of time reversed back 10 to 15 years Penang's scenario!
That's Kelantan and that's a State ruled by PAS. The supremo Tok Guru Nik Aziz is the MB and he's such a lenient and venerable pious Muslim even we from afar State would give him respect only to hear the eponym 'Tok Guru Nik Aziz' and his mild implementation of Islamic value into the State governance.....He justifies the adding of religious essence into his governance!
Hadi Awang is the national President of PAS (Parti Islam seMalaysia) and he failed once being the MB (1999 -2004) of the neighboring State - Trengganu!....Hearsay had it that he was way above more fanatic and aggressive than Tok Guru in implementing Hudud Law which was in contradicting with Tok Guru's preaching. Hence BN recaptured the State in GE 2004 out of fears of Trenggane voters against this formidable bigot.
Now that Hadi is the adamant proposer for Hudud Law to implement in Malaysia, she being a secular State having practicing common law, as enshrined in the Federal Constitution! It was the mamak ex-Premier who with evil intention on purpose riled up the status of Islamic State with the status of Islam being the national religion!
After tasting with limited power only in running a State, PAS is making a big way to conquer the whole nation by teaming up with their erstwhile rivals who have total disagreement with their preachings!
Kaseng described them as the motley trio (PKR+PAS+DAP) whereas i nickname them the riff-raff group till date they are still an illegal grouping as far as the Malaysian Law is concerned, they have no registration with the Registrar of Society as a political bloc!

Can this makeshift power bloc  be able to live by what they pledged in their manifesto and lead the nation to prosper into a blissful tomorrow worth our ponder over.......

(To be continued.....)
